Database Designer Job Titles

Database Developer, Database Designer, Data Technician, Database Reporting Analyst

Job Description:
With the internet and electronic business generating large volumes of data, there is a growing need to be able to store, manage, and extract data effectively. Database Designers work with database management systems software and determine ways to organize and store data. They identify user needs and set up new databases. They also test and coordinate modifications to the system when needed, and troubleshoot problems when they occur.

Database Designers or Database Developers also help in running complex queries or searches through the database to help research a company's trends or performance. They routinely work with Data Analysts or Report Writers to help them with complex reports. They will also work with Database Administrators on the design and implementation of new databases or problems with the existing database.

They need to be able to document and communicate problems, solutions, and the implementation process in a clear and concise manner. They will create contingency plans following the organization's format and procedures.

Individuals interested in becoming a Database Designer or Database Developer must have strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills because troubleshooting and helping others are vital parts of this IT career.
